Security startup SentinelOne announced $70 million in Series C funding today, bring its total raised to more than $110 million.

The round was led by Redpoint Ventures, which also happens to be a SentinelOne customer, and it also included Sound Ventures, a group whose partners include actor Ashton Kutcher.

Other contributors included prior investors Third Point Ventures, Data Collective, Granite Hill Capital Partners, Westly Group, and SineWave Ventures.

SentinelOne deploys an agent onto the device it's watching, which can include Windows- or Linux-based servers, or Windows, Mac OS, or Linux-based end-user devices. The agent takes up 200 MB of storage and analyzes network behavior by tapping processes, as opposed to sitting inline. A second component compares its findings to normal operations and to known suspicious behavior; anything deemed malicious can be terminated or quarantined.

The company was founded by CEO Tomer Weingarten and CTO Almog Cohen. Weingarten was previously vice president of products at Toluna Group, while Cohen spent seven years at Check Point. The team also includes Jeremiah Grossman, chief of security strategy, who founded WhiteHat Security in 2001.
