Scale Computing is acquiring cloud-native SD-WAN and secure access service edge (SASE) provider Adaptiv Networks in a move to expand the company’s market position in Canada.
Scale plans to extend its SC//AcuVigil virtualization platform with integrated SD-WAN connectivity, network performance optimization, and centralized orchestration across distributed environments.
Adaptiv Networks’ cloud-native SD-WAN and SASE solutions are designed to simplify WAN management, performance, security, and reliability. While deploying enterprise SD-WAN, business cloud connectivity, or remote VPN access, the platform also helps ensure optimized network security and cloud productivity.
Through the acquisition, Scale Computing and Adaptiv Networks will cater to a combined customer base of 9,000 users, including brands across fast food, restaurants, retail, and other global distributed industries.
“Distributed organizations depend on applications being available everywhere work happens – and that requires reliable, secure connectivity, and always-on visibility,” Scale Computing CEO Bill Morrow said. “[The acquisition] will enable our partners and customers to experience secure, agile network connections, which will be seamlessly integrated with our managed networking and edge computing software and services.”
The Indianapolis-headquartered operator pledged to expand the company’s market position in Canada as Adaptiv Networks' Connect and Elfiq family of SD-WAN solutions will be combined under the SC//Connect brand.
Scale Computing plans to begin offering Adaptiv Networks solutions as a standalone offering and as part of a bundled managed networking platform through Scale Computing’s channel partner ecosystem.
“By combining Adaptiv’s SD-WAN and SASE capabilities with Scale Computing’s managed network services and edge computing platforms, partners gain an expanded portfolio to deliver simpler, more resilient networking, and businesses benefit from secure connectivity that scales across distributed environments," Adaptiv Networks CEO Bernard Breton added. "Our team at Adaptiv is excited to join with Scale Computing.”
Scale Computing currently offers an integrated edge ecosystem that unifies infrastructure, orchestration, networking, and managed services for distributed enterprises. Its offerings span AcuVigil managed network solutions for operations support and centralized visibility, Fleet Manager with zero-touch provisioning for edge deployment, and the Scale Computing Platform for scalable infrastructure.
Scale Computing’s recent evolution
Scale Computing recently expanded its Lenovo partnership in a play for the increasingly fragmented virtual machine (VM) market. The SC//HyperCore virtualization platform powers Lenovo's ThinkEdge SE100 for edge, branch, and core workloads.
Scale Computing’s Reliant Platform Edge Computing as a Service (ECaaS) offering also became available on the ThinkEdge SE100 via Lenovo’s hardware and software bundle service.
Scale Computing itself was acquired by edge-focused company Acumera last year, with the combined entity now operating as Scale Computing. This venture merged Acumera’s AcuVigil platform and Scale’s hardware and virtualization offerings to support deployment and management of AI workloads at the edge.
