The Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) of Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the International telecommunications union (ITU), announced the forum's focus on “Shaping the Future of Converged Connectivity,” bringing together experts and policymakers to discuss innovative ways to enhance connectivity. Key topics will cover seamless connectivity, the upcoming World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC), 5G and 6G convergence, and the security of non-terrestrial network (NTN) networks.
Mohammed AlJanoobi, Deputy Governor of Spectrum at CST, emphasized the event's significance, stating, “The second edition of the forum marks a significant milestone in our journey towards a future where seamless connectivity is a reality for all... this forum will serve as a catalyst for groundbreaking discussions and strategic partnerships.”
The first edition took place in 2022, establishing the forum as a regular platform for discourse on NTN technology and policy. The 2024 event will address the progress made since and the ongoing efforts to unlock NTN's full potential.
