Polymatech Electronics has formed a strategic partnership with SimplyRFMW Limited to enhance the development of RF power amplifiers for 5G and 6G infrastructures. This collaboration is essential for the advancement of next-generation wireless communication technologies.
SimplyRFMW, located in Cardiff, Wales, specializes in RF and microwave engineering, leveraging its extensive academic and industry knowledge to create advanced communication components. Polymatech Electronics, based in Chennai, India, is recognized as the country's first semiconductor chip manufacturer, focusing on solutions ranging from edge computing to 6G technology.
The partnership will initially emphasize research and development of integrated RF components utilizing international semiconductor foundries, which will then be produced commercially at Polymatech's California unit. A primary focus will be on designing low-phase-noise RF amplifiers and investigating Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology applications in extreme environments such as space and defense systems.
“SIMPLYRFMW has undertaken the task of developing integrated components for future 5G and 6G infrastructure, using international semiconductor foundries and Polymatech's expertise in advanced electronics packaging. We are currently prioritizing the preliminary stages of research and development with a strict focus on 5G and 6G applications,” said Dr. Chaudhry, Sr. Scientist at SimplyRFMW.
Dr. Quaglia, Scientist at SimplyRFMW, added, “Through this proposed collaboration, we seek to purposefully utilize RF power amplifier design capabilities to enhance the product portfolio of Polymatech Electronics. In doing so, we will help establish relationships between Polymatech and South Wales universities and institutions.”
Eswara Rao Nandam, CEO of Polymatech Electronics, remarked, “This partnership represents a key step towards Polymatech's vision for Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India). By addressing extreme-temperature requirements for defense and space applications, we aim to deliver robust chips that meet the highest standards of reliability and performance.”
Vishaal Nandam, Executive Director of Polymatech Electronics, highlighted the integration of RF technology as a pioneering step towards enhancing the performance of GaN-based dies for geostationary satellites, which is vital for navigating challenges associated with space radiation.
The collaboration between Polymatech and SimplyRFMW signifies a notable commitment to advancing telecommunications and defense technologies, aimed at offering next-generation solutions that will reshape global connectivity.
