Brocade has recruited Plexxi's Michael Bushong as vice president of data center switching and routing, as of this week.

Brocade doesn't appear to have put out an official release, but the news was posted to Twitter by colleagues including Lisa Caywood, a Brocade senior product marketing manager, and Christofer Hoff, CTO of security for Juniper Networks.

Bushong most recently served as vice president of marketing at Plexxi, which recently shuffled CEOs. Prior to Plexxi, Bushong spent seven years in senior roles at Juniper, according to his LinkedIn profile. More important than any of that, Bushong has regularly contributed guest blog posts for SDxCentral, writing on trends in network virtualization and the data center.

At Brocade, Bushong will oversee product development and technical marketing for the NetIron and MLX OpenFlow routers, as well as cloud orchestration efforts.

Now a crusader for open source software-defined networking (SDN), Brocade has been stocking up on talent and heavily participating in the OpenDaylight Project. In September, Brocade launched the Brocade Vyatta Controller, an OpenDaylight-based controller for SDN.
