Patero and Orilla partnered to deliver a scalable quantum-safe platform designed to secure industrial AI deployments at the edge.

The initiative comes as organizations increasingly look to protect operational technology and long-lived infrastructure from future quantum threats.

The companies said the joint offering combines Orilla’s edge-native industrial AI and DataOps platform with Patero’s post-quantum encryption and secure communications technology. The resulting system is positioned as an “edge-to-industry” platform designed to support edge-to-edge, edge-to-cloud, and remote operational workflows across industrial environments such as factories, utilities, ports, and energy infrastructure.

“AI belongs at the edge. By integrating Patero’s quantum-safe security, we are removing the biggest barrier to industrial AI adoption: trust in the data, the infrastructure, and the outcomes,” Orilla CEO Lindi Sabloff noted.

Security concerns around industrial AI infrastructure are growing as organizations deploy distributed AI systems across critical environments with life cycles measured in decades.

Vendors and government agencies have warned that data protected using current cryptographic standards could eventually become vulnerable to future quantum-enabled attacks. These include “harvest now, decrypt later” scenarios in which cybercriminals collect encrypted data today in anticipation of future quantum decryption capabilities.

The announcement reflects growing concern across industrial sectors about securing distributed AI deployments running on infrastructure that is expected to remain in service for decades. The National Institute for Science and Technology’s (NIST) post-quantum cryptography (PQC) roadmap indicates that quantum-vulnerable public-key algorithms should begin phasing out in 2030 and be prohibited after 2035.

The Patero and Orilla system is designed to help organizations deploy AI systems at the edge while reducing exposure to cyber threats and supporting migration toward PQC standards. They added that its capabilities include secure machine-to-machine communications, quantum-resistant encrypted tunnels, and crypto-agile security architectures.

Patero COO Peter Bentley said industrial infrastructure was becoming increasingly intelligent, but argued organizations also needed to prepare for future cryptographic risks as AI adoption expands across operational environments.

The partnership comes as industrial operators explore edge AI deployments for automation, monitoring, and analytics workloads, while regulators and critical infrastructure operators accelerate planning for post-quantum security transitions following recent U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) migration directives.
