Palo Alto Networks is migrating “key internal workloads” into Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as part of a new multibillion-dollar agreement that will support a handful of new AI-powered features for the vendor’s cybersecurity services.

The new features include the ability for users to use Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and Agent Engine with Palo Alto Networks Prisma AI Runtime Security (AIRS) platform. This will allow for the securing of developer tools like the Agent Development Kit using Prisma AIRS and for users to protect live AI workloads and data on Google Cloud.

Palo Alto Networks recently updated its AIRS platform with an agent registry to monitor for new and existing AI agents and an AI model security, capable of assessing open-source models to find potential architectural vulnerabilities, malicious code, and data contamination.

Palo Alto Networks’ VM-Series firewalls also gain deeper Google Cloud integration that allows users to maintain security policies as they migrate services into the hyperscaler and a more unified integration process to simplify management of security across hybrid cloud environments.

Palo Alto Network’s secure access service edge (SASE) platform also gained access to Google Cloud Interconnect to support WAN infrastructure provisioning across multiple clouds while maintaining consistent security policies.

Palo Alto Networks recently updated its Prisma SASE platform with a dedicated software-as-a-service (SaaS) Security Posture Management capability to provide real-time insight into the behavior of SaaS-based AI agents, copilots, and plugins.

The latest work builds on the already more than 75 joint integrations between Palo Alto Networks and Google Cloud and $2 billion in sales Palo Alto Networks claims it garners through the Google Cloud Marketplace.
