PacketLight Networks has introduced the PL-8000M Muxponder, tailored for high-capacity transport demands, delivering up to 1.6 terabits per second within a compact, 1U system.

The new Muxponder is both flexible and scalable, allowing for seamless integration into existing networks to roll out services ranging from 100 to 800 GbE or to enhance overall network capacity.

With its launch, PacketLight addresses the rising need for high-capacity and cost-effective optical transport solutions. The PL-8000M utilizes two 800G pluggable OpenROADM coherent optical modules, effectively offering a total capacity of 1.6 Tb/s in a single device. It integrates essential optical components—mux/demux, EDFAs, and an optical switch—creating a comprehensive solution that simplifies deployment and reduces operational costs.

Designed with a pay-as-you-grow architecture, the PL-8000M ensures future-proof scalability and compatibility with third-party switches or routers, promoting seamless integration. This feature facilitates visibility and performance monitoring for client services.

The device supports standard optical module interfaces for 100GbE, 400GbE, and 800GbE services, includes Layer-1 GCM-AES-256 encryption for secure communications, and provides options for future encryption needs through Quantum Key Distribution.
