Partnering with telecommunications provider Globe Telecom, Nokia’s Nuage Networks is rolling out a nationwide SD-WAN service in the Philippines. This is the first fully operational SD-WAN to serve the approximately 7,000 islands that make up the country.
Globe Telecom is based in the Philippines and delivers mobile, fixed broadband, and other managed services to the country. By adding the Nuage SD-WAN to its network it can deliver cloud-based services for enterprises .
Nuage's Virtualized Network Services (VNS) SD-WAN automates branch site connectivity by leveraging any kind of network connection, including mobile. The service also offers policy-driven automation, application-aware routing, security, and a self-service VPN portal for customers.
The service will be available to enterprise and small- and medium-sized business customers of Globe Telecom. Previously, Globe had only IP-VPN services, which are tedious and time consuming to deploy. The enhanced flexibility and easy connectivity of SD-WAN will increase its ability to connect branches and centralize cloud-based applications and services.
Nuage’s SD-WAN is tapped by a number of global providers for similar connectivity use cases. Telefonica recently expanded its Nuage SD-WAN infrastructure to include software-defined data center (SDDC) technology. And France-based provider e-Qual also rolled SD-WAN to 60 countries in its network last month.
