Nokia has announced an upgrade to the data center infrastructure of Maxis, Malaysia’s telecommunications provider, to enhance connectivity and scalability using its data center switches and Event-Driven Automation (electronics design automation (EDA)) platform. This deployment aims to support Maxis's business growth by providing a scalable, secure, and efficient data center architecture.

The modernization of Maxis’ data center technology will help simplify network operations, enabling faster problem resolution and workload automation on a secure infrastructure.

Nokia will implement its 7220 Interconnect Router (IXR) data center switches and EDA technology across multiple Maxis data centers. This upgrade is expected to allow for quicker provisioning of infrastructure resources and to reduce complexity while ensuring secure application scalability.

According to Goh Seow Eng, Chief Executive Officer at Maxis, the collaboration with Nokia will facilitate next-generation connectivity and reflects Malaysia’s growth as a center for data and cloud services, bolstering its network capabilities.

Ming Kin Ngiam, Head of Southeast Asia South for Network Infrastructure at Nokia, stated that effective data center networks are vital and that this collaboration will provide Maxis with a scalable and resilient architecture for future needs.

Nokia emphasizes its commitment to building secure data center networks worldwide that meet evolving demands, particularly for AI workloads. The EDA ensures quicker response times, minimizes manual efforts, reduces errors, and enhances operational performance.

The Nokia 7220 IXR, part of Nokia’s Data Center Fabric solution, offers high-capacity platforms that cater to the increasing connectivity demands of various sectors, including webscale companies and service providers.
