For the second month in a row, a Cisco acquisition topped the list of Money Moves. Last month, the networking giant acquired Working Group Two to boost Mobility Services and IoT networks. This month, Cisco made a blockbuster move, announcing its plans to acquire Splunk for $28 billion without making it clear on how it plans to assimilate the cybersecurity and observability vendor’s assets.

Databricks lands over $500M in Series I, fueling rivalry with Snowflake

In another huge financial move, data analytics platform provider Databricks announced that it has raised more than $500 million in a Series I funding round, valuing the company at $43 billion. Notable new investors include Nvidia and Capital One Ventures, both of whom are known to be supporters of Databricks’ competitor Snowflake, with Nvidia as a partner and Capital One as one of Snowflake’s largest customers.

Netskope enhances SASE digital experience monitoring with acquisition

Netskope is growing its capabilities with the acquisition of digital experience monitoring (DEM) startup Kadiska. The acquisition is a bid for Netskope to boost its capabilities on the monitoring side of its secure access service edge (SASE) platform initiatives. Financial terms of the acquisition are not being publicly disclosed. Kadiska is a smaller private startup that was founded in 2020 and is based in France. It combines real user DEM with end-to-end visibility of network and application performance.
