HPE Acquisition Builds on Aruba Private Networking Push

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) acquired technology provider Athonet to strengthen its private cellular network push – a move that HPE Wireless CTO Stuart Strickland said will benefit the company’s existing Aruba Networks customers.

HPE will integrate Athonet’s software with Aruba’s private networking portfolio to combine the high capacity enabled by Wi-Fi with the coverage and mobility of 5G. Read more.

Cisco’s Valtix Acquisition Is More Than multicloud Firewalls

Cisco’s most recent Valtix acquisition is more than just a move to enhance its multicloud next-generation firewall capabilities. Valtix’s unique approach to providing a single policy for multiclouds and protecting each individual workload could potentially give Cisco a competitive advantage over its peers.

Founded in 2018, Valtix offers a cloud security platform that delivers capabilities including cloud-based firewall, web application firewall (WAF), intrusion detection systems (IDS) and intrusion prevention systems (IPS), egress filtering, and data loss prevention (DLP) for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). SAP Follows Through on $7.7B Qualtrics Sale, Focuses on Cloud Growth

SAP will unload its 423 million shares of Qualtrics following the latter’s acquisition by Silver Lake and CPP Investments. The move comes as part of a “strategic initiative” to streamline the SAP portfolio and focus on cloud growth.

Qualtrics is a Utah-based startup that procures cloud-based subscription software for experience management.

At a purchase price of $18.15 per share, the $7.7 billion transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2023 and values Qualtrics at $12.5 billion. Earlier this year SAP announced plans to sell its stake in Qualtrics concurrent with a decision to cut 2.5% of its workforce. Read more.
