Arrcus Secures $50M to Support Networking GrowthArrcus secured $50 million in a Series D equity round, with investments lead by Prosperity7 Ventures. The funding follows a more than doubling in sales bookings last year, and a 70% increase in the vendor’s global headcount.
Prosperity7 Executive Managing Director Aysar Tayeb said its backing Arrcus as a “disruptive leader” in this space. The vendor competes against larger networking software companies like Cisco, Arista, and Juniper Networks.
Arrcus CEO Shekar Ayyar, a former VMware executive, told SDxCentral the vendor’s growth is in large part due to its Arrcus Connected Edge (ACE) platform – a three-layer stack to connect enterprise data centers with service or cloud-provider infrastructure – and its use case versatility “across the network from edge to multi-cloud and from enterprise to service providers.” Read more.
HPE Acquisition Builds on Aruba Private Networking PushHewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) acquired technology provider Athonet to strengthen its private cellular network push – a move that HPE Wireless CTO Stuart Strickland said will benefit the company’s existing Aruba Networks customers.
HPE will integrate Athonet’s software with Aruba’s private networking portfolio to combine the high capacity enabled by Wi-Fi with the coverage and mobility of 5G.
“We’ve wanted to partner with a private cellular network core company for a long time,” Strickland told SDxCentral. “We looked for companies that would have a similar vision and would also have developed their technology with private networks in mind rather than oriented toward the public backbone network.” Read more.
