Modal, a serverless compute platform for AI workloads, has signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This partnership aims to assist businesses, from startups to large enterprises, in developing and deploying artificial intelligence (AI) products more efficiently on a GPU-accelerated platform.

Through this collaboration, Modal's platform allows AI teams to quickly deploy GPU-enabled containers, enhancing rapid iteration and autoscaling for production workloads. By leveraging AWS's infrastructure, Modal has seen significant growth, attracting generative AI startups looking for flexible compute solutions without extensive resource commitments.

“We're excited to deepen our collaboration with AWS,” said Erik Bernhardsson, founder and CEO of Modal. “Together, we aim to accelerate the development and deployment of the next generation of AI applications by providing a seamless, scalable platform that works with the AWS services our customers already rely on.”

The partnership streamlines GPU infrastructure management, enabling AI teams to concentrate on innovation. Combining Modal's platform with AWS's extensive services offers a dual advantage of specialized support for AI workloads and the robust capabilities of AWS.

Mike Cohen, Head of AI & ML Engineering at Substack, shared, “Our ML team loves Modal because it accelerates research and development, and deployment, while seamlessly integrating with our AWS-based infrastructure.” This collaboration promises to enhance future AI and machine learning feature development.

Jon Jones, Vice President of AWS Startups, noted, “Modal's traction in providing flexible access to GPU resources for AI companies is impressive. We believe this offering has the potential to empower many leading AI companies to build and scale their solutions more effectively.”

The collaboration enhances Modal’s offerings, including its listing in AWS Marketplace and integration with AWS PrivateLink, addressing specific customer security and privacy needs. Modal will also demonstrate its AI container technology at AWS re:Invent in December 2024.

This partnership emphasizes the strengths of Modal and AWS in delivering flexible options and increasing business value across various industries.
