Mitsubishi Electric is set to acquire cybersecurity solutions provider Nozomi Networks.

Financial details of the deal weren’t disclosed, though analyst reports place it around the $880 million mark. Once completed, Nozomi will serve as a wholly owned subsidiary, operating independently of Mitsubishi Electric. The deal is expected to be completed by year-end.

Mitsubishi Electric said the acquisition will strengthen the Japanese giant’s offerings, buoyed by the addition of a cloud-first cybersecurity software business.

Nozomi, which was founded in 2013, provides network and endpoint visibility, threat detection, and AI-powered analysis for industrial control systems and IoT environments. This provides infrastructure operators insights into their operations and potential security risks.

Its headquarters is located in San Francisco, while its research and development site is in Mendrisio, Switzerland. Mitsubishi Electric said the two sites would remain once the acquisition closes.

Nozomi is familiar with its prospective owners, with the Japanese giant joining investors including Schneider Electric in the firm’s $100 million Series E funding round last March. In addition, the pair also previously collaborated on innovation and go-to-market projects.
