KnowBe4 has launched its Threat Labs initiative aimed at combatting human-targeted cybersecurity threats, particularly email and phishing attacks. The new division will leverage expert analysis alongside crowdsourced intelligence to devise strategies that anticipate and mitigate these security risks.

According to Dr. Martin Kraemer, a security awareness advocate at KnowBe4, the initiative represents a significant advance in delivering actionable insights on evolving cyber risks tied to human behavior. He emphasizes that this intelligence stems from ongoing monitoring and thorough investigations into the global threat landscape.

The first report, titled Using Genuine Business Domains to Harvest Credentials, reviews a complex phishing campaign that effectively targeted organizations for Microsoft credentials. The report details how attackers employed a compromised domain and exploited various techniques to enhance their evasion tactics and success rates.

Jack Chapman, head of threat intelligence at Egress, a KnowBe4 company, notes that the Threat Labs will concentrate on areas like social engineering and human-factor security to better equip organizations in enhancing their defenses through cutting-edge research and timely threat evaluations.

Research outcomes from KnowBe4 Threat Labs will be disseminated via the KnowBe4 Blog.
