Keysight Technologies and Capgemini have partnered to validate 5G new radio (NR) non-terrestrial network (NTN) radio access networks (RAN), which operate in both regenerative and transparent modes. This collaboration aims to enhance global connectivity and network performance by addressing the challenges associated with dynamic satellite movement and complex beamforming.
The achievement will be demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025. The validation process facilitates the integration of both terrestrial and satellite components, ensuring robust connectivity across various environments.
Keysight’s UeSIM UE Emulation RAN solution plays a crucial role in this testing by enabling the emulation of multiple NTN-enabled user devices. It supports operational testing of NTN network protocols with accurate orbit channel modeling and enables the realization of NTN Beam Management concepts.
Rajat Kapoor, Head of Software Frameworks at Capgemini Engineering, noted the importance of their 5G NR NTN software framework's compliance with standards to expedite the development of satellite-based communication systems. Peng Cao, Vice President of Keysight's Wireless Test Group, highlighted that the validation of regenerative NTN RANs is vital for maintaining reliable communication in non-terrestrial networks.
This collaboration demonstrates the commitment of both companies to advance solutions in 5G technology and address escalating demands for NTN deployment.
