ISACA has launched the Certified Cybersecurity Operations Analyst (CCOA) credential, which aims to enhance hands-on experience for cybersecurity analysts. The new certification includes performance-based labs that replicate real-world situations, addressing the rising demand for skilled professionals in the cybersecurity sector.

The organization's State of Cybersecurity survey highlights that 73% of employers prioritize prior hands-on experience when hiring, while 38% respect relevant credentials. With CCOA, ISACA seeks to address these needs by equipping analysts with vital skills to better identify and respond to cyber threats.

As cyber challenges evolve, with 38% of organizations reporting an increase in attacks, professionals will need to enhance their technical skills to protect digital environments effectively. The CCOA credential caters to cybersecurity personnel with some experience, focusing on crucial areas such as incident detection, risk management, and asset security.

According to Shannon Donahue, ISACA chief content and publishing officer, demonstrating proficiency in on-the-job tasks positions candidates favorably in a competitive job market. The CCOA curriculum includes a comprehensive online course, QAE database, and review manual to support exam preparation.

By participating in the CCOA program, individuals also pave the way toward further certifications like the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), benefiting from a one-year educational waiver applicable toward the CISM exam upon passing the CCOA exam.
