Just in time for Mobile World Congress (MWC), IP Infusion has expanded its network operating system OcNos with a view to powering AI data center fabric efficiency through open networks.
Version 7 of the flagship platform infuses native 400G/800G ZR/ZR+ optics with a complete segment routing feature set comprising traffic engineering, flexible algorithms, and a border gateway protocol (BGP) free core. IP Infusion said this helped to scale IP over dense wavelength division multiplexing (IPoDWDM), with users benefitting from a simplified control plane, reduced label-switching complexity, and streamlined operations via the provision of deterministic, service-aware paths from end-to-end.
OcNos 7.0 also touts invalid-route rejection based on BGP resource public key infrastructure (RPKI), as well as hardened BGP peering controls as protection against route leaks and prefix hijacking. This helps bolster routing table integrity and lessens operational exposure to global routing incidents.
The new release also adds support for Docker and Kubernetes (K8s) for container lifecycle management. With this extra cloud-native support in the OS, network operators can deploy monitoring tools, security probes, or custom microservices directly on the router within an isolated containerized environment.
IP Infusion also added over 100 new Google Remote Procedure Call (gRPC) network management interface (gNMI)-based streaming telemetry sensors, and on-change streaming. The suite is rounded out by complete network configuration protocol (NetConf) and gNMI integration to enable real-time fabric optimization, accelerated rerouting, and proactive capacity planning across converged IP and optical networks.
“We are providing operators with the field-proven tools to accelerate the evolution of legacy infrastructure, secure the internet edge, and automate the entire lifecycle of their networks," said Miguel Alonso, chief product and marketing officer of IP Infusion, who added the OS will be demoed at MWC as a 'total' IPoDWDM solution, thanks to an integration with the Fujitsu 1Finity optical platform.
"At MWC, we will demonstrate how providers can confidently scale IPoDWDM and AI-ready networks while maintaining operational control and long-term sustainability,” said Alonso.
