Long-time Intel executive Diane Bryant has a new gig. Google Cloud CEO and SVP Diane Greene said in a blog post that Bryant will join the firm as its new chief operating officer.

Most recently, Bryant headed up Intel’s Data Center Group, where she was credited with expanding the business’ focus to include pervasive cloud computing, network virtualization, and artificial intelligence. In 2016 that group generated $17 billion in revenue. Before that she was corporate vice president and CIO of Intel where she was responsible for the company’s corporate-wide IT services.

Bryant has been on leave from Intel since last May when it was announced that she was stepping away from her duties to take care of an undisclosed personal matter. Because of the duration of the leave, Intel appointed Navin Shenoy to be general manager of the group.

Bryant will bring more firepower to Google Cloud where she will work closely with Greene, the former founder and CEO of VMware. Greene joined Google Cloud in 2015 and has steadily been growing the business. In 2016 she hired Sam Ramji, formerly the CEO of Cloud Foundry, to be VP of product management at the company.

Google Cloud Platform has been trying to steal market share away from its larger rivals Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft’s Azure public clouds. AWS claims about 40 percent of the global public cloud revenue followed by Azure at around 25 percent.
