Infineon Technologies AG has been awarded the German Sustainability Award in the “Electrical Engineering and Electronics” category, recognizing its leadership in sustainability efforts. The German Sustainability Award is Europe's largest accolade for ecological and social commitment.

The award jury highlighted Infineon’s role as a model company within the sector, emphasizing its significant contributions to sustainability transformation. “The jury is of the opinion that Infineon has assumed a leading role in the field of sustainability and serves the sector as a beacon for successful transformation,” the judges stated.

Elke Reichart, Member of the Management Board and Chief Digital and Sustainability Officer at Infineon, accepted the award in Düsseldorf. “We at Infineon work hard to drive decarbonization and digitalization and to create a more sustainable future. This award is recognition, as well as an incentive to be a role model in sustainability and to continue rigorously implementing our ambitious sustainability strategy – together with our employees, customers and partners,” Reichart said.

Infineon is pursuing a comprehensive decarbonization strategy with a goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030. Since 2020, the company has reduced emissions by more than two thirds while nearly doubling its revenue. Additionally, Infineon has begun reporting emissions at the individual product level, a metric referred to as the Product Carbon Footprint, which is currently available for half of its products.

Infineon’s semiconductors play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of energy generation, transmission, and storage. The company's new energy-saving silicon carbide module, which has been nominated for the 2024 Deutscher Zukunftspreis, exemplifies sustainable product innovation. The module enhances energy efficiency in various applications, including renewable energy and large drives in agriculture and construction.

The German Sustainability Award was established to honor companies making substantial contributions to sustainability across various sectors. Winners were selected from approximately 2,000 competitors, with the competition organized in collaboration with several prominent associations, including the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce and WWF Germany.

Infineon's global workforce numbers approximately 58,060 employees, and the firm reported about €15 billion in revenue for the 2024 fiscal year. The company is focused on sustaining its efforts in decarbonization and digitalization across its products and solutions.
