Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) unveiled its fourth-generation private cloud platform, touting data storage and management updates to help customers beat rising virtualization costs.

Hot on the heels of updates to its Mist and Aruba Central offerings and ProLiant product line, HPE's Business Edition line has now been rebranded Private Cloud PC3000.

In addition to the new name, the platform update sees HPE give customers the ability to manage both traditional virtual machines (VMs) and Kubernetes containers on a single platform, eliminating the need for separate tools.

The private cloud platform now also features native file storage, with underlying support for lines like the MP X10000 scaling to 16 nodes and 23 petabytes (PB) of raw capacity. The storage support sees HPE position the GreenLake platform squarely at AI workloads, providing enough underlying file storage to boost high-throughput AI jobs.

Agentic AI updates are central to the refresh, with HPE pushing autonomous management capabilities. This includes Alletra B10000, which is capable of self-detecting and resolving infrastructure issues, and its Zerto software for data protection. HPE's Data Fabric Software is also getting an agentic AI assistant, giving administrators natural language access to the global namespace for faster insights and automated reporting.

HPE wants its offering to keep customers onside and away from what it described as “fragmented, multivendor tools or risky migrations.”

Memory server line refresh

HPE also announced the general availability of the successor to its Compute Scale-up 3200 server line.

The new 3250 is powered by Intel Xeon 6 processors and comes with a minimum of four sockets. It’s capable of supporting up to 64 terabytes (TB) of double data-rate five (DDR5) memory and houses a dedicated external node controller to offload tasks to improve performance by as much as 100-times faster than Ethernet in scale-out deployments.

The 3250 server also comes with memory error detection and correction capabilities to ensure data integrity and uptime during high-intensity operations.
