Here are some of the latest executive hirings, promotions, and staff changes.

VMware Loses One, Gains Another

Oracle’s former chief of North American channels, Bill Swales, left the company to become the vice president and channel chief at VMware.

In his new role at VMware, Swales will oversee global channel projects and help to grow its global commercial business.

Swales joined Oracle in 2015 from Hewlett Packard (HP) where he was VP of its standard server business. During his tenure at Oracle he oversaw the company's shift to selling cloud services. He was replaced by Dale Weideling. According to Weideling’s LinkedIn profile he is still the VP of partner management at Oracle so it's unclear if he has stepped into Swales’ chief position permanently.

VMware CTO Guido Appenzeller also left VMware. In a post on his website, Appenzeller wrote that he was leaving “to pursue a new adventure.” He also lamented about the growth of VMware and its transition from data center to cloud.
