Synchronoss CEO Resigns Amid Personal Misconduct Allegations

Glenn Lurie, a longtime telecommunications executive, resigned as CEO of Synchronoss amid allegations of personal misconduct.

The cloud-based messaging and IoT vendor declined to share more details about the allegations, but the abrupt departure followed an investigation by the company’s board. The company appointed Jeff Miller, its chief commercial officer, as interim CEO and said it will begin a formal search for a permanent replacement.

Lurie joined Synchronoss less than three years ago after the company was beset with accounting fraud allegations that resulted in a temporary suspension of the company’s public listing on the U.S. stock market.

Nutanix CEO Talks Remote First Grade, Why He’s Leaving

Nutanix CEO Dheeraj Pandey stepped down from the company he co-founded in 2009. In a surprise move ahead of Nutanix’s earnings call last month, Pandey announced that he will stay on until the board of directors selects his successor.

“Being at home for the last six months, and thinking hard about what really matters, I need to commit to my family for at least the next year while we are still in this lockdown,” he told SDxCentral.

While all of this may very well be true, Zeus Kerravala, principal analyst at ZK Research says Nutanix needs a new strategy and that won’t happen without change at the top.

Pandey, for his part, admitted that while the COVID-19 pandemic put things in perspective, he had been thinking about stepping down for a while.

Dell Plans Job Cuts, VMware May Reduce Remote Pay

Dell Technologies cut jobs as a cost-saving measure, according to a Bloomberg report.

Citing a person familiar with the situation, Bloomberg reported that COO Jeff Clarke told staff during a quarterly meeting that workforce reductions won’t be limited to a particular team or division within the company.

“We’re also evaluating our business to make sure we have the right number of team members in the right roles and in areas where customers need us most,” a Dell spokesperson said in an email to SDxCentral. “And, we’re addressing our cost structure to make sure we’re as competitive as we should be now and for future opportunities. While we do this type of organizational review regularly, and while it always results in some job loss or restructuring, we recognize that there is nothing routine about today’s environment.”
