Gigamon, a network traffic visibility company, today announced a new feature to its GigaSECURE Security Delivery Platform, called GigaVUE-VM to integrate VMware NSX. The feature uses VMware NSX Dynamic Service Insertion and NetX API integration to deliver automated traffic visibility and security tools for the software-defined data center (SDDC).
While using the benefits of an SDDC architecture based on the VMware NSX platform, Gigamon customers can now use GigaVUE-VM system to enable enhanced visibility into their workload traffic patterns.
The new feature is aimed at customers who are looking to operationalize VMware NSX technology and need threat intelligence tools in this environment. GigaSECURE is used in conjunction with the RSA NetWitness Suite, which is meant to monitor a broader set of attack vectors. Together, they can help security teams gain deeper insight of an attack before it can potentially impact their businesses.
As security teams expand in scale, NSX automatically copies the virtual traffic to Gigamon’s GigaSECURE Delivery Platform for replication and optimization before delivery to security tools. In addition, specific NSX traffic policies can be configured and associated with the security teams in the deployment.
In related news, Gigamon also announced today that its GigaVUE-VM has achieved VMware Ready status for VMware NSX-enabled networking and security systems. This means that GigaVUE-VM has been interoperability tested with VMware NSX and utilizes the APIs and interface methods enabled by the NSX platform.
