France has awarded Eviden the national contract for its Cooperative, Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), a key component in securing information shared between connected road infrastructure and road users. This four-year contract, with options for two additional years, will see the deployment of Eviden’s IDnomic C-ITS PKI solution, scheduled to begin nationwide in 2025.
The decision comes as France positions itself as a leader in C-ITS, aligning with European security frameworks. C-ITS facilitates communications between vehicles, infrastructure, and users, enhancing traffic safety, mobility efficiency, and environmental sustainability by allowing for real-time event anticipations.
Interoperability will be governed by European standards, with public entities including the Gendarmerie and National Police set to implement the system. Eviden’s PKI will ensure the security and privacy of these communications, essential for maintaining digital trust within this infrastructure.
Simon Ulmer, Group VP and Head of Digital ID at Eviden, stated, “This selection by the French government showcases our expertise in C-ITS security. We are honored by the ministry's trust and look forward to enhancing the French C-ITS ecosystem toward safer and smarter mobility.”
