Flexential integrated its Interconnection Mesh solution into its network fabric offering, potentially simplifying how users deploy and maintain their network infrastructure.

The solution connects with the Flexential Fabric offering through the firm’s Flexential Xperience Portal (FXP); upon connection, organizations are granted access to all other ports within the mesh network, connecting data centers, cloud providers, and enterprise locations.

Interconnection Mesh provides multipoint transport capabilities, allowing for the automated provisioning and scaling of highly redundant networks – systems designed with multiple backups to ensure continuous operation despite device failures – across sites. The offering provides local (Layer 2) and global (Layer 3) connectivity choices, enabling clients to exercise specific control over network routing and management.

The integration is released as part of Flexential’s FlexAnywhere hybrid IT infrastructure platform, and comes after data center operator Flexential secured investment from GI Partners last month, giving it a total of $1 billion of primary equity.

The firm also recently partnered with Lumen Technologies on integration of Lumen’s network-as-a-service (NaaS) platform with FlexAnywhere.

Flexential’s solution comes in response to network convolution, with Forrester claiming enterprise networks have seen a two-fold increase in complexity in the last decade. Growing preference for standardized services delivered via a unified interface and API-level automation is driving the adoption of fabric-based delivery models, which can offer improved consistency and reduce operational burden.

Providers of these interconnection providers such as Megaport and Packet Fabric currently lead in the market, with Analysys Mason reporting telecom operators are in prime position to capture one-third of the expected $8.7 billion investment enterprises are forecast to make in multicloud NaaS by 2028.
