Fidelis Security announced an integration with Palo Alto Networks on an enhanced network detection and response (NDR) solution.
The California-based cybersecurity defense vendor is adding Prisma Access integration to Fidelis Network, its NDR management of internal visibility across ports and protocols, analyzing network traffic and detecting anomalies in network behavior.
Palo Alto Networks' cloud-based Prisma Access manages traffic across various sources, including remote and hybrid work environments. Its Traffic Replication zero trust-based capabilities are designed to copy all network traffic it captures, with copied data then stored in the cloud.
With the integration, Fidelis users can connect to the stored data for decryption and deep analysis of inbound and outbound embedded network content across every port and protocol.
Fidelis highlights automated threat detection and hunting in the solution, alongside immediate and session-level metadata collection and storage.
The integration is positioned as response to today’s challenges for security teams, with shallow visibility exacerbated by regulatory requirements concerning network traffic data.
As reported previously by SDxCentral, legacy network and security architectures were not designed for today’s hybrid work environment, where data and traffic travel to dispersed locations across a multitude of different devices.
This has led to visibility issues for network managers who have traditionally relied on VPN and proxies to solve that problem. Routing all traffic to specific points increases network complexity and costs, and presents a major scaling issue for managers.
Various integrations with Palo Alto Networks tools have sought to resolve this long-standing problem over recent years, with Fidelis joining the likes of NetWitness to better support real-time enterprise network visibility.
The Fidelis and Palo Alto Networks integration also ties in with the increasing platformization of network security.
As Palo Alto Networks discussed with SDxCentral last year, the company believes platformization can generate value and contribute to security improvements, with AI tech – such as that available in tools like Prisma Access – potentially providing extra benefit to network managers.
