Edge cloud platform provider Fastly is pushing further into India through its partnership with Jio-owned content delivery network provider JioCDN.
The team-up sees Fastly’s programmable edge cloud power Jio’s deep network infrastructure, which JioCDN is built on. The Fastly-infused JioCDN has already handled live digital events like Indian Premier League (IPL) matches and the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, and looks to provide a secure means to help scale connectivity for businesses.
“India is one of the world’s most exciting and demanding digital markets, and Jio Platforms Limited is an ideal partner to bring Fastly’s edge platform to this rapidly expanding market,” Scott Lovett, president of go-to-market at Fastly, noted. “JioCDN has already delivered tremendous value to customers, including some of the largest live-streamed events in history. This is a testament to the secure, high-performance, and innovative platform we have built together at scale.”
Fastly was founded back in 2011 and provides image optimization and load balancing services on top of CDN offerings. The brand went public in 2019 and moved to raise $125 million at the end of 2025 to fuel expansion efforts. Its U.S.-based edge compute services are being leveraged in a partnership with Comcast Business and Equinix for last-mile connectivity.
The firm’s India efforts see it working with a Reliance Jio brand shifting from internal to wider enterprise-facing infrastructure. While its parent owns some of the country’s largest mobile and broadband networks, JioCDN sees the company wanting to offer the services that then generate the traffic its other platforms would support.
“India’s digital economy is growing at an unprecedented pace and our partnership with Fastly enables us to provide the platform businesses need to offer seamless digital experiences to end customers,” Jio Platforms Chief Digital Services Officer Arvind Tiwari noted. “JioCDN represents our commitment to help ensure that every Indian business and consumer has access to one of the most secure, reliable, and innovative platforms in the country at pricing built for the Indian market.”
