F5 has outlined a strategy for transforming its Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs) to accommodate the demands of AI-driven applications. The company is advancing this transformation through a platform that integrates application delivery with enhanced security capabilities.

As organizations increasingly adopt AI applications, F5 recognizes the need for a flexible and comprehensive approach to application security and delivery. Kunal Anand, Chief Innovation Officer at F5, stated, “The rise of AI and modern applications demands a fundamental rethinking of application security and delivery. Traditional approaches fall short in managing today’s complex, distributed systems.” F5’s new ADCs aim to provide the consistency and visibility necessary in hybrid and multicloud environments.

According to F5’s State of Application Strategy Report, 75% of enterprises are deploying AI apps, yet many are unprepared to secure and deliver these applications. The new architecture will support high-performance load balancing, full web application and API security, multicloud networking, and AI gateway capabilities.

Supporting this transformation, F5 has announced collaborations with several partners, including NVIDIA and Intel, aimed at enhancing AI application delivery and security across multicloud frameworks. The company is now pushing for the adoption of an integrated AI reference architecture to streamline the deployment of AI projects.

“As the nature of applications has changed, the ADC naturally needs to evolve as well,” said Zeus Kerravala, founder of ZK Research, highlighting the critical need for robust load balancing and security features in the AI era. With the introduction of ADC 3.0, F5 plans to address these challenges effectively, setting the stage for enterprises to deploy AI applications with improved security.
