Eviden will collaborate with Serbia’s Office for IT and eGovernment to establish a National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Factory, leveraging a comprehensive set of AI capabilities including supercomputing power and software development.
Eviden announced a 50-million-euro contract with the Serbian administration to create the National AI Factory, which will consist of an AI Center of Excellence and a dedicated supercomputing platform. This initiative aims to enhance Serbia’s AI capabilities and promote innovation across different sectors, strengthening the country's technological autonomy through European technologies.
This AI Factory is designed to be more than just an infrastructure. It will offer a comprehensive suite of shared AI resources—talents, expertise, software, and hardware—to democratize AI usage and support large-scale projects. By providing the necessary resources through this single contract, Eviden will assist Serbia in addressing its growing AI challenges.
The National AI Factory, the first of its kind in the Balkan region, will combine advanced supercomputing resources with specialized expertise for use-case development. The ecosystem will be available to public institutions, academia, and businesses in Serbia, focusing on key areas such as health, energy, transportation, and administration.
Eviden will deploy the BullSequana XH3000 supercomputer, capable of 25 PetaFlops and featuring 300 GPUs, to meet Serbia’s demands for computing power. This supercomputer will support the AI Center of Excellence, enabling the development and execution of innovative AI applications.
The project will also implement Eviden’s BullSequana AI platform, aimed at accelerating AI application development. This software will incorporate Mistral AI's generative AI models, supporting the creation of new AI use cases.
Additionally, the initiative will include AI expertise from Eviden’s teams and the Serbian AI ecosystem, facilitating the application of AI across strategic sectors. This collaboration will assist in training engineers and academics within Serbia, supporting the sustainability of the AI Center of Excellence.
Mihailo Jovanovic, PhD, said, “This partnership with Eviden marks a historic moment for our country’s digital future, demonstrating the spirit of Franco-Serbian cooperation, and is a fundamental step toward our vision outlined in the 'Leap into the Future – Serbia 2027' Program.”
Emmanuel Le Roux from Eviden emphasized that Serbia's investment in AI research and application underscores its commitment to technological growth and sovereignty, enhancing cooperation between France and Serbia.
