Elon Musk may have lost a high-profile lawsuit against OpenAI, but the tech mogul can still claim to have his hands on the latest Nvidia kit.

According to a note published this week, Nvidia has shipped its first Vera central processing unit (CPU) systems to Musk's SpaceXAI, as well as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Oracle Cloud.

Nvidia's new Vera data center CPU entered full production in March, and is expected to be generally available in the second half of this year. While the company has traditionally paired its Arm CPUs with a graphic processing unit (GPU), Nvidia shifted to also offer the hardware standalone due to the rise of CPU-heavy agentic AI workloads.

The first Nvidia Vera CPUs were personally hand-delivered last week by Ian Buck, VP of hyperscale and high-performance computing at Nvidia. The first delivery was made to Anthropic’s San Francisco offices, before another delivery at the Mission Bay headquarters of Anthropic rival OpenAI.

Anthropic and OpenAI rival SpaceXAI was the last to get a Vera shipment on Friday, followed by a delivery this week to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

According to Nvidia, Buck and team walked Musk through the system’s interior. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO listened before asking questions about cores, memory layout, and cooling.

SpaceX’s AI division is assessing Vera for reinforcement learning tasks and the agent-based simulation pipelines that underpin its training stack.

This week saw Musk lose his lawsuit against OpenAI. Musk's case accused OpenAI founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman of manipulating him into donating $38 million when the AI vendor was non-profit.

A California jury ruled against Musk, saying he waited too long with his claim that OpenAI breached its founding ‌agreement to build safe AI for the good of mankind.
