Elastic has announced the general availability of Elastic Distributions of OpenTelemetry (EDOT), a comprehensive open distribution of the OpenTelemetry collector and software development kits (SDKs) tailored for code instrumentation. This offering is designed to enhance monitoring capabilities for site reliability engineers (SREs) and developers by providing a production-ready OTel ecosystem with enterprise-grade support.

Research indicates that over 73% of IT decision-makers are currently utilizing or planning to adopt OpenTelemetry. However, many face challenges due to insufficient vendor and community support. EDOT aims to alleviate these concerns by delivering a stable version of OTel, allowing users to avoid vendor lock-in and proprietary add-ons.
