DriveNets Japan has announced a collaboration with Fujitsu and UfiSpace aimed at accelerating open network rollouts and supporting the IOWN Network Solution. This partnership will deliver significant cost savings and streamline operations for network operators while enhancing their service capabilities.
The collaboration has completed testing and certification of Fujitsu's ZR/ZR+ modules with DriveNets Network Cloud software, deployed on UfiSpace white box hardware. This achievement highlights the integration of three communications layers into a single platform, which eliminates the need for standalone optical transponders.
Key benefits include a reduction in the operators’ hardware footprint, lower operational overhead, and reduced power usage. The ZR+ modules from Fujitsu, when combined with disaggregated networking, promise economic efficiencies that expand choices for service providers worldwide.
Yukiharu Fuse, a Corporate Officer at Fujitsu Optical Components, emphasized, “Our collaboration with DriveNets enables operators to build more efficient networks and simplifies end-to-end network management.” Norry Lin, Head of UfiSpace Japan, added, “This announcement enhances service provider choices and contributes to a reduction in hardware footprint.”
The partnership aligns with the IOWN Global Forum, where DriveNets, UfiSpace, and Fujitsu Optical Components share a vision for advanced communication infrastructure. The IOWN Network Solution promises high-speed, long-distance transmission at 400Gbps, allowing operators to integrate open standards and validated hardware for future-ready networks.
Nir Gasko, Vice President of Global Strategic Alliances at DriveNets, stated, “Innovative ZR+ modules combined with disaggregated networking solutions deliver tremendous economic efficiencies to operators around the globe.” This collaboration reflects ongoing trends toward open, disaggregated networking that empowers operators to mix and match solutions from multiple vendors.
The combined solution is expected to support a more flexible and efficient approach to network design, in line with evolving demands from customers across various sectors.
