SDxCentral Quick Hit: Musk Brings Back Twitter Bid to Dodge TrialElon Musk said he will reinstate his bid for Twitter at the original offer price of $54.20 per share to possibly avoid going to court with the media platform. Musk recanted his first bid in July, after months of public claims by the billionaire that Twitter had lied about what percentage of the platform's users are bots.
Twitter sued Musk in Delaware Chancery Court to force him to go forward with the purchase, with a trial originally set to begin Oct. 17. The judge on Tuesday asked both sides to come back to her with a proposal on how the case should proceed with Musk's new offer.
Bloomberg reported Musk made the new proposal in a letter to Twitter, shares of the company climbed to a peak of 18%, and trading was halted this week. Twitter didn’t respond to requests for comment on whether it would accept the proposal.
