Comcast Business has reached an agreement to acquire Nitel, a managed services provider based in Chicago, from private equity firm Cinven. The deal is expected to bolster Comcast's offerings in connectivity, global secure networking, and advanced technology for enterprise clients.
Nitel specializes in network-as-a-service (NaaS) and provides advanced managed services and connectivity solutions tailored to U.S. enterprises. Featuring high-performance networking, cloud services, and cybersecurity, Nitel supports businesses in enhancing their operational efficiency and driving digital transformation.
Edward Zimmermann, President of Comcast Business, stated, “Nitel is a dynamic player in managed network services. Its addition to our portfolio will strengthen our capabilities in advanced network, cloud, and cybersecurity solutions, empowering businesses to succeed now and in the future.”
Nitel serves around 6,600 clients, focusing on mid-size enterprises across sectors like financial services, healthcare, and education. This acquisition aims to create growth opportunities by integrating Nitel’s solutions with Comcast Business’ advanced connectivity offerings.
Margi Shaw, CEO of Nitel, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Together, we can provide world-class connectivity technologies and services to enterprises of all sizes.”
The acquisition remains contingent on regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
