Cloudflare, Inc. has released its fourth annual Impact Report, detailing key initiatives aimed at protecting democratic processes and the rights of content creators, while also supporting the open-source community.

The report highlights Cloudflare's efforts in securing critical infrastructure and providing free cybersecurity services for over 90 political campaigns and 60 local media sites as the U.S. approaches its 2024 elections. Despite detecting a rise in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks targeting political entities, the company reports no significant disruptions caused by these threats.

Matthew Prince, Cloudflare’s co-founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of safeguarding democratic processes, stating, “In 2024, we witnessed half of the world’s population eligible to vote against a backdrop of continued conflict and social unrest. Cloudflare worked to help protect critical voices... I am proud of how the Cloudflare team supports needs bigger than all of us.”

Other key milestones from the report include:

  • Utilizing Cloudflare Radar to monitor over 70 countries' elections and the related internet activities.
  • Launching tools for content creators to manage AI bot interactions with their material, enhancing their control over digital content.
  • Expanding access to AI capabilities through cloud-based tools deployed across 180 cities.
  • Defending 2,900+ internet properties from millions of daily attacks, aiding vulnerable groups.
  • Supporting open-source software initiatives through Project Alexandria, which provides free services and resources.

In total, Cloudflare contributed more than $15 million in products and services through these initiatives in 2024. Those interested in in-depth details can access the complete Impact Report on Cloudflare's website.
