Cisco has unveiled new solutions designed for service providers to enhance AI connectivity and monetize their offerings effectively. The Cisco Agile Services Networking architecture is intended to help networks manage the demands of AI applications while ensuring high performance, increased resilience, and improved data security.

With rising volumes of data from AI applications, service providers are under pressure to process this information closer to the edge to improve access speeds and service performance. Cisco’s approach provides a streamlined route for these providers to evolve their networks to better align with AI requirements.

Jeetu Patel, EVP and Chief Product Officer at Cisco, emphasized the potential for service providers in the AI landscape, stating, “The AI revolution is a massive potential tailwind for service providers. AI, and especially the advent of AI agents, will mean an incredible influx of new digital workers...Cisco's Agile Services Networking is the blueprint for service providers.”

Cisco’s new architecture allows service providers to simplify their networks and monetize assured services delivered closer to end-users. The offerings include new Cisco Silicon One Systems that deliver enhanced sustainability and security, and 400G coherent pluggable optics designed to support long-haul applications.

Furthermore, network automation features from Cisco Crosswork provide predictive AI capabilities for capacity planning and resource management, enhancing operators' ability to oversee their network infrastructure comprehensively.

The initial rollout of these Silicon One-powered devices is underway, with further models expected in 2025. Cisco claims these developments will also contribute to energy efficiency, citing one example where an architecture using the Cisco 8000 series could lower greenhouse gas emissions substantially over its lifecycle.

Partnerships with global service providers, such as Arelion, Bell Canada, and Swisscom, will be critical as they adapt to the evolving demands posed by AI solutions.
