Chemours Company has initiated a full-scale product trial in collaboration with NTT DATA and Hibiya Engineering, focusing on two-phase immersion cooling technology for data centers. This trial follows successful laboratory testing and seeks to enhance cooling strategies which have become crucial due to the increasing heat output connected with high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI).

The partnership aims to improve both efficiency and sustainability in data centers amid growing energy demands. Kouhei Kurotaki, Deputy Manager of Technology Consulting Division at NTT DATA Japan, stated, “Opteon™ 2P50 directly addresses the growing heat generation and energy use challenges facing data centers.” The field trial will include various stakeholders, including data center operators and technology firms.

Izabela Jasinska, Liquid Cooling Venture Leader at Chemours, commented on the significance of the initiative, noting that current cooling technologies need to evolve to match the demands of modern computing. Opteon™ 2P50 is designed to reduce energy consumption associated with data center cooling and is expected to significantly decrease the water usage and overall environmental impact.

As part of the trial, Chemours' Opteon™ 2P50 fluid is projected to cut down cooling energy needs by up to 90% and overall energy use by 40%. This collaborative effort addresses the industry's challenges while promoting technology development aimed at achieving sustainability goals.
