Brocade has decided it's acquired enough companies that it needs to stop using all those different brand names.
The Connectem, SteelApp, VistaPointe, and Vyatta brands are all being retired, replaced with new product names that all have the word "Brocade" in them.
Brocade announced the changes today in a blog entry by Kelly Herrell, senior vice president of software networking — and the former CEO of Vyatta.
Vyatta had the most cachet among the acquired companies, and the name had become Brocade's shorthand for many elements of virtualized routing and software-defined networking (SDN). The startup had originally developed an open source router for enthusiasts; Brocade acquired it in 2012.
VistaPointe was acquired in late 2014, while Connectem and SteelApp (acquired from Riverbed) were acquired this year.
