Big Switch Networks' vice president of engineering, Howie Xu, is leaving the company. Executives confirmed that Friday, July 19, was his last day.

Big Switch isn't giving out further information, such as where Xu is going or whether a replacement is lined up. “Personnel changes are the normal course of business, especially at startups. We are no exception as we seek to best align skill sets with rapidly evolving market dynamics, and while we are placing additional focus on physical switching and OpenFlow fabrics. We will announce a replacement in the near future,” said Guido Appenzeller, Big Switch Networks CEO.

Xu joined Big Switch in 2011 after nine years at VMware.
