AT&T has announced a multi-year extension of its voice core partnership with Nokia, aimed at enhancing customer-focused networks and driving automation, faster deployment times, and operational efficiencies.
The deal will enable AT&T to evolve its current Nokia IMS Voice Core to include Voice over New Radio (VoNR). The updated core utilizes a cloud-native architecture to allow for flexible scaling, improved automation, and significant cost savings, thereby enhancing AT&T’s ability to bring new services to market quickly.
Yigal Elbaz, Senior Vice President of Technology & Network Services at AT&T, stated, “With focused execution and investment, AT&T continues to make excellent progress in realizing automation at all levels of its network and service operations. We are pleased to continue our relationship with Nokia to further optimize our network operations and enable new services that better support our customers’ evolving needs.”
Nokia's voice core applications will be integrated through the Nokia Cloud Platform, helping streamline network activities and minimize manual efforts. This integration echoes Nokia's multicloud strategy, providing operators with the infrastructure flexibility they need.
Additionally, AT&T will deploy Nokia Digital Operations software solutions to facilitate the automated design, delivery, and assurance of customer services at scale. Raghav Sahgal, President of Cloud and Network Services at Nokia, remarked, “As a long-time collaborator with AT&T, Nokia fully understands the important journey AT&T is on to enhance automation and reduce complexity to better serve its customers.”
