Comprehensive Cloud-Scale Interop Lab testing of Scorpio Smart Fabric Switches advances PCI Express (PCIe) 6.x ecosystem enablement, fast-tracking customer platform designs, development, and time-to-market.

Astera Labs, Inc. announced the expansion of its Cloud-Scale Interop Lab, which aims to enhance the time-to-market of PCIe 6.x Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms that utilize Scorpio Smart Fabric Switches. The lab provides rigorous interoperability and performance testing across a variety of PCIe 6.x devices, enabling customers to design confidently while minimizing interoperability risks and reducing overall development time and costs.

Chris Petersen, Fellow, Technology and Ecosystems at Astera Labs, commented, “Beyond base level interoperability, Astera Labs’ Cloud-Scale Interop Lab embodies our cloud-native philosophy — leveraging our early ecosystem engagement, system validation boards, advanced diagnostics, and performance and system testing with real-world applications. This expansion of our interoperability leadership empowers customers to optimize performance, increase reliability, and accelerate deployment of their next-generation PCIe 6.x systems.”

As PCIe 6.x technology becomes crucial for maximizing performance in AI workloads across hyperscale systems, Astera Labs is positioning itself to address new challenges in connectivity that arise with faster speeds and generational complexities. Scorpio P-Series Fabric Switches and Aries 6 PCIe/CXL Smart DSP Retimers undergo extensive testing to ensure seamless operation in complex environments.

This latest development reinforces Astera Labs’ commitment to system interoperability and builds on milestones such as its recent public demonstration of end-to-end PCIe 6.x interoperability with Micron’s PCIe 6.x solid-state drives at DesignCon 2025.

Industry leaders, including AMD and Micron, have expressed support for Astera Labs’ efforts to create robust interoperability among PCIe systems. AMD's Raghu Nambiar stated, “Astera Labs plays a critical role in ensuring robust interoperability with next-generation AMD processors, driving platform developments to ensure performance for emerging workloads, including AI.” Micron's Alvaro Toledo highlighted the importance of their collaboration in advancing the PCIe Gen6 ecosystem.

Astera Labs encourages customers to request custom interop reports that feature Scorpio Smart Fabric Switches alongside various PCIe devices.
