Software vendor Anuta Networks’ NCX orchestrator was deployed by service provider Tata Communications to help the company automate the rollout of its software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) offering.

Tata’s IZO SD-WAN offering consists of SD-WAN technology provided by Versa Networks, coupled with the service provider’s multiple connectivity options and performance monitoring capabilities. Prior to Anuta, Tata was manually deploying its SD-WAN offering on-premises, which was more time consuming and tedious work, said Kiran Sirupa, director of marketing at Anuta Networks.

So far, Anuta’s NCX has helped Tata configure, deploy, and manage more than 10,000 instances of its SD-WAN solution. A large reason Tata chose Anuta for its orchestrator was that it supports appliances and software from a variety of vendors. “The main thing for them was us being able to support a multivendor infrastructure for their existing deployments — like Cisco — and future ones as well,” Sirupa said.

Tata’s SD-WAN offering enables its network to take corrective actions and NCX can help automate policy enforcement. NCX can also read incoming traffic in using its configurations and policies to help dynamically route traffic.

NCX is able to configure and orchestrate load balancers, routers, switches, firewalls, WAN optimization devices, multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) routers, and software-defined network (SDN) controllers. Technology partners include Avi Networks, Brocade, Citrix, Ericsson, Fortinet, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Intel, Juniper, and Microsoft.

Due to its broad support, Sirupa said that Anuta is working on deploying more use cases and projects.

Anuta Networks was founded in late 2010. The San Francisco-based startup has around 100 employees, Sirupa said.
