AllCloud this week made a strong push into the North American enterprise cloud market, snapping up Figur8 Cloud Solutions, snagging $7 million in new funding, and bringing in a former Cloud Sherpas executive to lead its operations.
The Israeli-based company is focused on helping mid-sized businesses migrate operations to the cloud as part of their digital transformation. Newly-installed CEO Eran Gil explained that those efforts are based on partnerships with cloud experts like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Salesforce.com.
“We see a big opportunity now that the market is moving toward synergistic solutions in the cloud,” Gil said. “We see that with really deep technology partnerships that we have and can really benefit from these deals.”
Gil said a lot of the first generation of cloud platform providers targeting this market have been acquired, which has left a hole in the middle of the market.
“There are a lot of small, tightly focused organization out there now, but they lack a global presence and the ability to serve customers up and down the cloud stack,” Gil explained. “There are big players like Accenture or HPE [Hewlett Packard Enterprise], but they don’t focus on the mid-tier market.”
Before becoming CEO, Gil served as an executive board director at AllCloud, a position he held since 2015. He was also co-founder of Cloud Sherpas, which was acquired by Accenture in 2015.
Ronit Rubin, who was CEO at AllCloud, was named general manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at the company.
Figur8 DealAllCloud was founded in 2014 following the merger of Blat-Lapidot, which was an Israeli-based Salesforce partner, and Emind, which was a consulting partner in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network and Google Cloud Partner. The company had been focused mostly in Europe.
Gil said the firm made a strategic decision late last year to acquire a company in order to expand operations. He said AllCloud decided on Figur8 after evaluating a “dozen or so” options. It picked Figur8 because it wanted to target the AWS and Salesforce community. Figur8 also had offices across the U.S. and Canada.
“It made a lot of sense with their strategic focus,” Gil said. “They also had a strong foothold in North America and a pretty nice set of clients, including AirBnB and GitHub.”
Figur8’s co-founders, Ojay Malonzo and Richard Lockson, will join AllCloud. Malonzo as senior vice president of sales for North America, and Lockson as SVP of delivery for North America.
AllCloud FundingAllCloud also scored $7 million in new funding, bringing its total cash haul to $15 million since its founding four years ago. The latest investment was led by existing partners Discount Capital and Hallett Capital.
Gil said AllCloud will use the funds to grow its business organically, but also through another possible acquisition.
“We are always looking for ways to expand our opportunities,” Gil said.
