Almost four months after announcing that its CEO and President Lee Chen was on his way out, A10 Networks said it selected Dhrupad Trivedi to lead the company, effective Dec. 2.
Chen, who founded A10 in 2004 and served as its CEO since then, will remain chairman of the company’s board of directors.
Trivedi joins A10 Networks from Belden, where he most recently was executive vice president running Tripwire, a security software business, and CTO of Belden. He also held other executive roles at Belden including president of the company’s networking business, VP of corporate strategy and development, and president of Trapeze Networks.
Belden has been manufacturing cable products for more than 100 years. In 2004 it merged with Cable Design Technologies Corp., and it now provides cable, connectivity, networking, and security products.
“I am honored and excited to join A10 Networks as CEO to help the company pursue its mission of organic growth by delivering leading technology for our customers in terms of reliability, security, and availability,” Trivedi said in a prepared statement. “Lee [Chen] and the A10 team have established a strong reputation as the high-performance leader in multiple growing markets, which will provide strong secular tailwinds for many years to come.”
Potential Sale?In late July, on a particularly dismal second quarter 2019 earnings call, Chen said he would retire once A10 hired his successor. “The search has been focused on a strong leader who will bring a different perspective and industry expertise,” he said.
That same day A10 said it hired Bank of America Merrill Lynch to advise the company on “strategic matters” including a potential sale. A10, however, has yet to provide any updates about what’s next for the company and whether it’s up for sale. Company executives declined to comment during an earlier interview with SDxCentral and didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment today.
