What an exciting year it has been so far at SDxCentral! It's been almost a year since Matt and Roy started our Twitter news feeds and 11 months since we launched the website. As of today, we have posted more than 140 articles authored by our guests bloggers and by us. With the long weekend coming up, we thought what a great way for our new readers who just recently joined SDxCentral to catch up on some of our popular posts or for those who are regular readers, to reminisce on our past posts.
We went back all the way to Day 1 when SDxCentral went live through today and rounded up the most popular posts, then we divided it in to two different sets: blog posts and interviews. Today, we are sharing with you the Top 5 Popular Posts:
1. Should I Join an SDN Startup - by Matthew Palmer
This is one of our most-read posts and definitely worth reading if you're even thinking about joining an SDN startup or any startup for that matter. Take a look at it to understand why it tops our popular list.
2. vSwitch is the New Battleground. What Every Datacenter Operator Must Know - by Matthew Palmer
An in-depth look at why vSwitches are important in the networking ecosystem going forward, and remember, we called out its importance before the Nicira acquisition announcement by VMware.
3. Does SDN Make My Network Management Look Fat? - by John Strassner
A fantastic post by one of our guest bloggers, John Strassner. He compares SDN to traditional network management and this, apart from being one of the most popular posts, generated lots of discussions on our LinkedIn Group. If you missed this one, we recommend a read.
4. TCAMS and OpenFlow - What Every SDN Practitioner Must Know - by Brent Salisbury
Guest blogger and all-around tech maven, Brent Salisbury, is the author of one of our most popular posts despite (or perhaps because of) its deep technical content. TCAMs are a critical element in physical switches today that impact the flow-handling capability of a switch's OpenFlow implementation. Brent gives one of the most enlightening and clear explanations of how TCAMs work we've ever seen.
5. Vendors: Consider LibOF Before Spending Money Building Your Next OpenFlow Implementation- by Roy Chua
This last post of our top 5 is interesting in that in generated a good amount of interest in the community, with some developers even reaching out to ask if they could contribute code! Unfortunately, SDxCentral isn't an open-source development powerhouse today--we struggle trying to fix bugs on our Wordpress blog. However, we remain hopeful that we'll see some momentum around a LibOF-type concept really soon now.
Be sure to visit SDxCentral on Friday when we reveal our Top 5 Popular Interviews. To our U.S. readers, have a wonderful Thanksgiving to you and yours!
