1Password has named Abe Ankumah as its Chief Product Officer (CPO), effective immediately. Ankumah, recognized for his entrepreneurial background and experience within Fortune 500 companies, will focus on advancing the company's Extended Access Management platform, which aims to secure user sign-ins across various applications and devices.
Jeff Shiner, Co-CEO of 1Password, stated, “As security challenges grow more complex, strong product leadership is critical to delivering innovative, customer-centric solutions. Abe’s experience as a founder, product innovator, and business leader makes him the ideal choice to help shape the future of Extended Access Management and execute our product roadmap.”
With a background in enterprise software, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Ankumah has a track record of successfully driving product innovation. Previously, he was Vice President and General Manager at VMware, and co-founder of Nyansa. He has also held leadership positions at Meraki and Aruba Networks, and began his career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Ankumah remarked, “As 1Password champions Extended Access Management, my focus will be on delivering a seamless, secure, and scalable platform. We have an incredible opportunity to redefine how organizations protect identities, devices, and applications.”
This appointment coincides with 1Password’s broader expansion, which includes the hiring of new executives such as David Faugno as co-CEO and Jeannie De Guzman as Chief Operating Officer. Ankumah will lead product strategy and work closely with the engineering, security, and design teams. Recent advancements in the Extended Access Management platform include the acquisition of Trelica and enhanced integrations with major providers like AWS and Microsoft.
