The 2024 RSA Conference is around the corner, meaning it's time for the latest batch of security startups to emerge. Based on the companies added to the SDxCentral Directory this week, the recurring themes for security startups you'll meet at RSA are data, security operations (SecOps) and XDR -- all claiming some use of artificial intelligence (AI) as their core value proposition.
Personally, I have mixed feelings about the prospects of startups added. On the one hand, it's great to see continued investment in the cybersecurity space to collectively combat the bad guys. On the other hand, based on their company descriptions, press releases and websites, most of these companies --to me -- lack clarity on the unsolved problem they look to solve, differentiation from existing solutions or compelling reason to be considered. This is particularly true with companies in the SecOps and XDR sector. A second batch of companies appears to be claiming they protect data and apply policy around data for generative AI (genAI) use. While this is interesting, this smells more like a feature in existing products than a stand-alone company, as we previously covered with and interview TK Keanini.
Also added to the directory this week were some non-security companies in the AI, data center and silicon sectors.
The list of new companies added is available to SDxCentral members. Login or Create an account to access the list. Details for how to add your company to the SDxCentral directory are at the bottom of this article.

If your company is not listed and think it should be or is not classified as you'd expect, please drop me a direct message on LinkedIn and we'll review and approve if appropriate. Our purpose-built AI-driven platform, trained by our industry experts and private large language models (LLM) classifies companies based on knowledge and information we have about your company relative to the rest of the market.
One reason IT decision makers at enterprises, service providers and hyperscalers visit SDxCentral is to stay current and make decisions on technologies and vendors that are right for their environment.
