About Saudi eGovernment Program
The government of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to transformation to e-Government, due to the enormous benefits of e-Government concepts to the national economy.
Realizing that it is extremely necessary to cooperate and join forces in various areas in order to transform into the information society and achieve established objectives, MCIT, in partnership with Ministry of Finance and Communication and Information Technology Commission, established the e-Government Program (YESSER) in 1426 H (2005 G). The program is controlled by a higher supervisory committee composed of minister of finance, minister of MCIT and the governor of CIT commission. A steering committee has emerged from the higher committee with members representing ministry of finance, MCIT and CIT Commission in addition to the Program’s Director General.
KSA has been keen to adopt and activate communication and IT systems in order to realize an IT community and a digital economy, besides higher levels of prosperity and welfare to the citizen and the expatriate alike. In order to achieve this vision, KSA has taken successive steps to develop business process and disseminate the concept of e-services in various government agencies.
In order to realize the above objectives, KSA adopted a set of promising ambitious plans and strategies. The e-Government Program has been assigned the task of developing and implementing these plans and strategies in cooperation with government agencies. The First Action Plan from 2006 to 2010 has been completed.
